Okay, I have to admit that many diet foods tastes like crap, but I have found some edibles that are both low calorie and well, edible. Here they are in no particular order:
1. Morningstar Tofu Hot Dogs (50 calories per hot dog)
These are super filling. I normally eat two for 100 calories total.
2. Morningstar Veggie Sausage Links (40 calories per sausage link)
3. Fat free jello (normally 25 calories any flavor)
4. Air popped popcorn
3 cups have about the same calories as a slice of bread. You can add seasonings or low calorie butter spreads.
5. Brown rice (Carolina Brand) is only 160 calories a cup.
6. Eggs (70-90 calories) Egg whites only (17 calories)
The brand I eat is 70 calories. Hard boil them, scramble them or even poach them. Add a bit of oregano, salt and pepper. Serve with toast, low fat or soy cheese, fat free salsa or by themselves. Very filling.
7. Miniature fruit (tangerines, clementines, berries and melon)
All are low calorie and super filling.
8. Bagel thins (110 calories)
Just as filling but without the bulk. Use in place of regular bread and bagels to make sandwiches. I like mine with fat free cream cheese.
9. Tofu (varies but definitely low calorie)
Substitute tofu in place of meat in your favorite recipes. Tofu in stir fry is the best thing since fat free cheese.
10. Veggies!
Sliced cucumber is delish with low fat vinegrette. Many vegetables (I love eggplant, broccoli and carrots) are excellent when sautéed or cooked in a stir fry.
